A truth about Sylvester Stallone that almost made me cry.
I love movies and I like to think I know a lot about them. Of course this is my opinion, which is the only opinion I really care about as the time of this being written.
Back to my point, I love movies. As I was talking with a co-worker about bad movies the movie Oscar was mentioned and it made me think. What good movies has Sly been in since Rocky 4
I thought of a few movies off the top of my head that I enjoyed but others might not have Cliffhanger and Demolition Man. My judgment isn't always the best so I decided to do some research on Rotten Tomatoes and find out how Sly's movies were rated by the critics. The results almost broke my heart.
As much as I loved Rocky and even Rambo I always knew in my heart of hearts that his movies were not good. I will list some of his movies after Rocky 4 and what they received on Rotten Tomatoes.
Rambo 3: 33%
Tango & Cash: 33%
Rocky V: 21%
Stop or My Mom Will Shoot!: 6%
The Specialist: 4%
Driven: 13%
This is of course a small sample of his movies but I assure you it doesn't get much better. The movies I mentioned before (Cliffhanger and Demolition Man) only received 77% and 52% respectively. Movies that he isn't the main star in did better on average.
I guess my whole point is, why do people love Sly? Why is this guy a celebrity? How does he keep getting rolls? He is a mediocre actor at best. Just remember the next time you want to talk about how gerat Sly is remember he isn't. The best thing IMHO that he has done this decade is the TV show The Contender.
